Plan pickup for carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless stock at regional branches. Share your preferred window, handling needs, and whether the order requires cutting before release.
What to include in your message
A clear metal request usually includes the material family, grade if known, shape, dimensions, quantity, tolerance expectation, finish concern, and deadline. If you are unsure about the grade, describe where the metal will be used instead. A support desk can often narrow the options from that application context.
For urgent maintenance work, include any part photos, current material notes, and the branch or city closest to the job. For production or repeat work, note whether the dimensions repeat, whether labels are needed, and how the material should be staged for pickup or shipping.
- Use "unknown grade" if you need help identifying a practical path.
- Send cut lengths and quantities in the same message whenever possible.
- Mention outdoor exposure, washdown, welding, machining, or visible finish.
